T minus 5 day (aka Tuesday) was dedicated to the moving of more boxes (obviously) and wallpaper removal. I started in the future office and can honestly say that there has been no easier wallpaper removal job in the history of man. It came off in whole sheets that I could literally use to wallpaper another room, if I were so inclined. The half bath, however, is another story entirely…
One of the most brilliant ideas that we - ahem - borrowed from Julia @ Ulrich was to move one of our kitchen walls, taking 2’ of seemingly unusable space from the living room to make room for a large pantry. The concept got a thumbs up from our neighbor, Luisa, when she came for a visit on Saturday. She used to visit the house to have tea with Mrs. Elling, and she couldn’t believe how different the kitchen looked. I apologize to her husband in advance, because I think she left the house with lots of ideas :)
Anytime I get a text from “Bob the Builder” saying “call me,” I know it can’t be good news. Today it was the disappointing news from our plumbing inspection that the building dept wants us to replace our bathroom plumbing. Damn that open wall and the secrets it has revealed! I think Dave secretly wished this to happen, as he wanted to work on the bathrooms all along and I originally talked him out of it. This side project, along with the need to bring in an architect to draw up plans for the new header, will delay us about a week. But we were anticipating the inevitable “HGTV moment”, when the bad news starts to come to light. At least we passed the electrical inspection?!
